Fall is quickly approaching. Or so it seems. One week the air is on and the next week I go and find some fuzzy socks. I’m sure 90% of that is just living in Iowa…but one can dream, right? 🙂
It’s always interesting to see how the styles change from year to year. The fall trends last year were all about plaid, fur, thigh high boots, leggings, and fringe.
I still stand by what I posted last year that “Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers, style is what you choose.” -Lauren Hutton
Whatever your stance on trends, it’s always interesting to see what deems a person as “fashionable” and what’s going to be popular and possibly never leave!
According to Elle and Glamour, this season is going to be so big on fur (again), velvet, capelets, chokers, and the schoolgirl look.
Here are just a couple of the trends and ideas on how to make the wearable in your closet:
Renaissance Woman
Runway:
Your Closet:
I’m sure you noticed the start of this trend in the summer. Bell sleeve rompers anyone? This season, you’ll be seeing that and more: velvet, bell sleeves, and corsets. Here’s a more “down to earth” approach on how to wear the Renaissance style. The key is toned down, simple, and balance.
School Girl
Runway:
Your Closet:
You’ve seen this style in movies and Gossip Girl Photoshoots, and now you’re going to see it in “real life.” Wear the schoolgirl trend with plaid mini skirts, turtle necks, front button down skirts, over-the-knee socks, and varsity tees. Oh, and backpacks are actually cool to have now.Â
Pumpkin Spice
Runway:
Your Closet:
From drinks to candle smells…pumpkin spice is everywhere and it’s not going away any time soon. Translate this into clothing by wearing dark shades of orange.
What do you think you’re going to implement… if anything?
school girl, all the way!! I’ve always loved that style.. #sohipster and now it’s back in!
You’re way ahead of the curve with the prep look!
I’m so glad you wrote a fall fashion post. I always have to read your posts before buying my new seasonal attire 😉 . Giving tips on runway –> real life is so helpful for fashion illiterate people like me 🙂 My favorite style? I’m really liking the velvet shoes I’ve been seeing. Keep the fashion posts coming!
I do not know whether it’s just me or if everybody else encountering problems with your blog. It appears as if some of the written text on your posts are running off the screen. Can somebody else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them as well? This might be a issue with my internet browser because I’ve had this happen before. Thank you|
That’s not something that I see on my end. It could be your browser, but thank you for bringing that to my attention!
