What I Wore: Farmers’ Market Edition
A couple weeks ago I hit up the farmers’ market in Madison, WI. There is a market where I live in Iowa, but I have to say nothing really compares to this huge one in Wisconsin that takes place at the state capitol! It’s something I look forward to every summer.

Even if I don’t buy a lot I love to just look at all the stands and see what people are selling. There are always great food trucks and who can say no to yummy drinks and mac n cheese?
For some reason, I always forget about how packed it gets and crowds aren’t my favorite thing… so that’s a bummer. But once you stroll along the square you can get your lunch and sit in the grass and people watch. That’s one of my favorite things to do! Though I feel like people watching is just glorified creeping haha…but you’ll never know what you’ll see!
Some people may just wake up and throw on their shorts and head over to the market (which is totally fine), but it’s fun for me to choose a cute outfit to wear! I got a lot of compliments on this look that day, especially the shoes. Espadrilles have quickly become my favorite summer shoe and I’ve been growing my collection at an alarming rate (this pair worn here, here, & here, some new pairs worn here)!
This high waisted skirt was breezy and nice for the hot summer morning. I finished the look off with my straw bag because what says summer and market more than that? I saw this super cute woven “backpack” that an older lady was wearing at the market. Her use was totally functional because she was carrying her veggies in it, but as soon as I saw it I thought how cool would it look in pictures haha. Is that sad? Don’t answer 😉 It was a mix of these two bags:
Cute and functional! No? Now where to buy…where to buy… 😉
Okay so here’s a “big” question. Is it “farmer’s” market or “farmers'” market? I’ve seen it both ways. My city advertises with the latter so that’s just what I go with!
Going to this farmers’ market has become my summer tradition and I love it!
Do you have any summer traditions of your own?
