Today is National Entrepreneur’s Day and it seemed only fitting to highlight the women that have recently joined my entrepreneur journey! National Entrepreneur’s Day is an event that honors people who have built an empire from absolutely nothing. Full-blown empire or not, I think we should celebrate all of those that have started businesses from scratch and work hard not only to support their dream but to enrich the lives of those around them.

Starting something from nothing is not easy. But at the risk of sounding cliche, it’s so worth it! Truthfully, I’ve always thought that I’d be an entrepreneur. It’s not that I can’t take direction from higher uppers, though Titus says the meme below is totally me haha.

I thought I’d be an entrepreneur because I always wanted to work for myself and create on my own terms. More than that, however, is that I wanted to offer something to the world and as my entrepreneur vision gained clarity, I found my place in the online world: creating and running a website that helps women make the most out of their fashion and lives. And I truly wouldn’t change it for anything.

But, I can’t do it alone. And why would I want to? Life, especially as an entrepreneur, is not about going it alone.

And of course, you don’t have a business without people, clients, and readers, so I just want to thank you! Every time you come to this website you are not only supporting my entrepreneur life but other women’s lives and their families as well.

Today, you can get a peek into the lives of my team.

First, meet Tirzah. Graphic creator, video editor, story creator, and admin extraordinaire!

Next up: Temwa. Product searcher, fashion researcher, and fashion writer!

When I graduated from Highschool in 2016, I wanted to pursue a career in fashion — but I was too scared to admit this to my parents. So I just settled for a general business course. However, with the encouragement of my brother, I started to explore where I would fit into the fashion industry.

I initially thought I could be a designer but, I realized that I was not good at drawing haha. In 2018, I discovered that I loved writing about fashion. I wrote articles every week on a platform called Wehearit – and I quickly gained a large following.

Every day I would wake up to so many notifications and several messages from my followers thanking me for my fashion articles. The lovely responses made me realize that my writing could make a positive impact on readers.

I later got hired as a part-time fashion content writer for the app – which was crazy because I had no formal training as a writer. This achievement gave me the motivation to gain more fashion writing experience. So in 2019 and 2020, I applied for unpaid fashion magazine internships to strengthen my writing portfolio and CV. I had a great time interning! I even got to interview Miss New York 2020 for one of my tasks! I was also shortlisted as a writing intern for Nylon magazine and the Editorialist but unfortunately, due to travel restrictions, I couldn’t make it.

1. Favorite places to shop for clothes:

Black leggings

4. Some of my favorite things to write about are:

Fashion styling articles and new product releases

5. My perfect outfit consists of…

A cute shoulder bag and blazer

6. I love working at My Chic Obsession because… 😉

It is the highlight of my young writing career. When I was interning in 2020, I wanted to eventually write for a platform like MCO. So when I saw the job opening, I knew that I had to be a writer for the magazine! Additionally, Carolyn is a kind and hardworking boss. She puts in so much effort to maintain the quality of MCO — and that is inspiring to witness. I can see how much she loves and cares about MCO, so I am really touched that she trusted me to write for her magazine.

7. If I could get on a plane right now I’d go to…

Brisbane, Australia to visit my sister 🙂

8. Blazer or trench coat?
