Storybook cottages, cobblestone paths, and romantic gardens. Did I just describe a fairytale? Nope, it’s real life. More specifically, it’s Carmel-by-the-Sea! If this seaside town is on your vacation itinerary, then you’re in for a real treat (and if you’re going to visit their bakeries, then I mean that literally)! There’s no shortage of beautiful photo spots in Carmel-by-the-Sea, but sometimes you just need a little nudge in the right direction. For photographers and those that like to experience charming beauty, here are the best Carmel by the Sea photo spots to help you capture this idyllic town!
Devendorf Park
This quaint park makes the perfect spot for an afternoon break or a picnic lunch. Though it’s small, it’s lined with a fence and row of roses, making it the perfect backdrop for enjoying your baked goods and taking pictures, of course!
Scenic Road
We can’t talk about Carmel-by-the-Sea without talking about the stunning coastline. Talk about an amazing photo spot! The best part is, you can’t miss it. The name of the road that goes along the beach is Scenic Road. It’s a one-way street and we turned onto it from Ocean Avenue. Cars are driving really slowly and it’s safe to walk. You’ll fit in just fine with all the locals taking their dogs for their morning walk.

Carmel Point
It’s a bit harder to pin down the cute storybook cottages, as they are scattered throughout the town. I’d recommend starting by the water such as Bay View Avenue (homes near the water are usually the most expensive ones) and driving through Carmel Point. Keep your eyes peeled for all the beautiful homes!

Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant
Nope, you’re not in France, but this place will make you feel like you are! Head to this restaurant for cute pictures and a European experience.
San Carlos St
Some of the best Carmel by the Sea photo spots will be found by exploring. For a Spanish-style stairway, head to San Carlos St. This gem will surprise you!
Mission Street & 7th Avenue
You’ll be surprised when you turn the corner into this little plaza, as there’s a whole ‘nother world hidden just a few steps from the street. Dining, shopping, and swimming (there’s a pool!), all in an impossibly charming setting.
Downtown Carmel, Ocean Avenue from Junipero Street to Monte Verde Street
Though “Downtown Carmel” may seem like a catch-all, it kind of is. This downtown area is full of boutique shopping, museums, and more importantly, beautiful photo spots. 😉 The best way to experience Carmel is to start in one place and walk up and down the streets.
Oh, and a word of advice? If you see what looks like an alleyway or an opening, walk through it! You never know what you may find.

Save this post of the best Carmel by the Sea photo spots for the next time you find yourself headed to this seaside village.
