A classic sweater deserves a place in everyone’s wardrobe all the time, but especially in fall. It is on my classic capsule list after all! Whether worn by itself or as a layering piece, it’s an item that you’ll wear over and over again. In this post, you’re going to get ideas for 4 chic sweater outfits as well as where you can shop to get affordable quality pieces!
One pillar that you already know this blog stands on is classic fashion, shopping less, and buying quality when you can. Okay, so that was multiple pillars! 😉
When it comes to the quality aspect it’s easy to get lost thinking you can only have quality if you purchase designer. Though I love to daydream about designer brands myself, it’s very unlikely that I would purchase something designer that’s not second-hand.
Why? The price. A lot of people say that you are paying for quality and while that is somewhat true, you are also paying for the brand name and perceived status that comes with owning a designer piece. That doesn’t sit super well with me knowing that I’m overpaying significantly on an item where I could get the similar quality for much less.
100% cashmere is 100% cashmere. So why is it $100 at some quality stores and $500 at designer shops?
What if you could get the same quality of pieces that you would get if you were shopping at Celine, Prada, and Armani, but without the brand markup?
Can you buy the quality without having to buy the brand?
YES!
Enter Italic.
Italic is truly a one-of-a-kind membership where you can shop beautiful, high-quality pieces at realistic prices. You can shop items that are made in the same factories as Max Mara, Armani, and Celine, but at cost. Meaning, you don’t have to pay for any high-end branding. Just the quality.
Genius, right?
Take a look at my sweater in this post that’s from Italic. It’s 100% cashmere, cozy soft, and beautiful. It’s a creamy color (though dark undergarments will show through) and only $65! It definitely feels and looks luxurious and it’s one of those items that will become a staple in your wardrobe.
If you’re looking for affordable quality, make sure to check out Italic. Now, as promised, let’s get to the outfit ideas!
4 Chic Sweater Outfits
1. Sweater under a dress
Wearing your sweater under a dress is a great way to not only add some style to your look but also add longevity to your spring and summer dresses by being able to wear them through the fall/winter season. Change out the footwear based on the weather that day- it’s a super versatile look!

2. Sweater + jeans + blazer
This outfit combo is your classic go-to! Try crop flares instead of skinny jeans for something a little different. Loafers add a touch of sophisticated chic and a blazer is perfect for topping over your sweater for that classy extra layer.

3. Sweater tucked into a skirt
This look is a tad Little House on the Prairie and a bit modest chic haha. Though it would be great for the chilly days when you don’t want an exposed neck or bare ankles. This look is pretty well covered and it really doesn’t need any more layers!

4. Sweater over a slip dress
You can easily turn your dresses into skirts by wearing a sweater on top. It’s an easy way to layer and it looks chic!

All of these sweater outfits look different from each other and yet all have the same sweater. That’s the power of layering and creative styling!

You should! It really helps to maximize your wardrobe. 🙂
Haha! That’s a great point about 100% cashmere being what it is, whatever the price tag. I love a few key cashmere pieces and the way you styled your sweater. so versatile!
Really glad you liked these styling ideas, Lavenda!
I love the ways you styled that sweater! I think a cream sweater is so essential for fall and winter.
So right- it’s such a staple piece!

I love the sweater under a dress moment. I honestly haven’t thought about one that in a while.
It’s a great way to get more mileage out of your clothes!
These styling ideas are so chic and love the affordable sweater option! My fave is the sweater tucked into skirt combo- love!
Thanks, Amanda. 🙂 I liked that one too!
I am fascinated and impressed with Italic’s concept. I love that they make quality items affordable! And what a stunning cashmere sweater. I’ve never owned cashmere in my life, but I want this right away. It’s beautiful and I adore the different ways you styled it!
I was so fascinated by their concept too. And cashmere is definitely worth owning. You feel (and look) so luxurious in it!
i hope you buy a sweater that is not made by being cruel to the goats who are farmed for their wool.
Love these sweaters so much! Cream sweaters go with everything and make it so much easier to put together outfits.
Most definitely! Staple pieces are key.
Snore.
I love the sweater over the slip dress outfit. It has almost a sporty look but is still super chic!
That’s a good point!
you ask why cashmere varies in price – maybe you should look up how cashmere is farmed and then you ill find out about the cruelty involved to animals. hopefully the expensive cashmere is farmed more kindly than the cheap one.
What if you are chunky? Please address those issues! We love sweaters too
Give us a break. Just enjoy the pics. You get no where with this.
I’m thinking that sweater is going to bunch at the waist under that dress. But I guess a purse would cover it.
