I’ve had requests for more posts on wearing clothes in unique ways and well I gotta say, request or not, I was going to do them anyways! They’re a favorite of mine to do because well, it’s fun, but more importantly, I love to inspire people with the possibilities in their own wardrobe. If you’re feeling bored with your pieces, this post will show you different ways to wear that skirt that’s hiding in your wardrobe. It’s a good idea to shop there first before going out and buying something new!
8 Different Ways to Wear a Skirt
This is the skirt that I’m styling in different ways! For these outfit ideas, I think a knee high a-line skirt would work best.
1. skirt worn with sneakers
Starting with a simple look first, because I love how a skirt can easily be dressed down for weekend errands or nights off when paired with sneakers, cardigans, and simple denim shirts!

2. skirt worn with faux fur
Weekend errands to holiday party or night out on the town! Black tights elevate your look (and make your legs look super long!) and touches like faux fur and statement sunglasses give this skirt the edge that’s needed.
3. skirt worn as a tunic
Now the skirt becomes a tunic! When you belt it, it defines your waist and makes this look more intentional and structured.
4. skirt worn over jeans
It’s casual, funky, and unique. By pairing a cute skirt with street style pieces, it gives off really fresh vibes. And hey, now you can wear all your skirts in the winter!
5. skirt worn over a dress
This look is different, I’ll admit. But in the words of my husband, it’s “weirdly cool.” It’s fun to push the boundaries of style every once in a while. I think this type of look works best when the skirt is worn over a bodycon dress.
6. skirt over dress + a blazer
When adding a blazer over the look above, it adds another layer which I think makes this outfit look very NYC runway!
7. skirt layered over a dress
Skirt over a long dress not your thing? No worries. This look is an alternate way to try that style out. By layering it over a short, tight dress it just looks like an extension of your dress!
8. skirt worn as a top
This makes a super cute spring/early fall look! If your skirt is extra flouncy and you’re afraid of weird bulging in the front, just tuck it in all the way in the back and when you throw a cardigan on top you can’t even tell!
I hope you got some new inspo today! Any certain piece you want to see me style next?
