Button ups (or button downs- I call ’em both) are so versatile. I originally thought that they were just workwear pieces, but now I love wearing them whenever I want to look polished or mix casual and a polished style! Keep reading for inspo on ways to wear a button up shirt– I bet you have one hiding in your closet!
Ways to Wear a Button Up Shirt
The ideas below hopefully show you that a button up shirt not only goes with any bottoms, but works as a fabulous layering piece too!
Spring? Knot it over a slip dress and pair it with sneakers for a fun, casual look.
Summer? Wear it with white culottes or denim shorts and accessorize with brown & gold for a chic, laidback look!
Fall? Black jeans are grounding and a denim jacket adds the needed warmth. Loafers add a chic touch to an otherwise casual outfit.
Winter? Jeans, ankle boots, and your outerwear of choice!

As I’ve said before, these tops are versatile! Not all tops are the same either. You can get a relaxed fit that’s great for spring/summer, knotting over dresses, and/or wearing as a swimsuit cover or you can get a slim, structured look that’s great for pairing with suits and wearing to work! I like both!
