If only there were a way to look alert and awake even when that’s the last thing on earth you feel. Thankfully, mascara exists…and coffee! But out of all the mascaras out there, how do you know which ones work and are worth your time and money? This Almay mascara has been pretty popular with other women hoping to make their eyes pop, but let’s see if it’s worth it. Here’s my Almay One Coat Get Up and Grow Mascara review!
Owned by Revlon, Almay mascara has been a leading drugstore brand for decades. Though anyone can use these beauty products, they were specifically designed for those with sensitive skin, as they strive to create clean, hypoallergenic, and fragrance-free products. Because of that, contact lens wearers can use products from this cruelty-free brand too! Not only that, but a “New Almay” is coming, as they are focusing on becoming more sustainable with their product packaging too from here on out.
Exclusive anti-breakage, pro-vitamin formula and unique, soft-touch brush work together to help reduce lash breakage and strengthen lashes so your lashes become visibly longer and stronger everyday. Brush fits eye contours perfectly so that you reach every last lash in just one coat. Clump-free, extra gentle formula is safe even for sensitive eyes.
It’s available in black, black brown, blackest black, and black waterproof.
Some ingredients this product may contain are:

- cire de carnauba
- caprylyl glycol

You can find this for $19 at Walmart and $17 at Amazon. I believe that it is discontinued now as it’s not on Almay’s website, therefore driving up the price. I got mine from Amazon for the free shipping!
Overall, I have to say this mascara is just okay. The product seemed a bit clumpy and smudgy and I didn’t get any extreme length using this product. Though I did get longer lashes with this mascara, it seemed run-of-the-mill and is similar to other drugstore mascaras. The formula did seem to give my eyelashes more volume and thickness, however.
It’s meant to help reduce future breakage, so it’s possible you would see more results in the future, though I did use this mascara almost daily for about a month before writing this review. Many women rave about this mascara, so part of me wonders if I got a bad batch, but based on my experience, I would label this mascara as “fine.” Plus, almost $20 for this mascara seems WAY too high. And maybe that’s because I just got done reviewing L’oreal Telescopic mascara, which is one of the best ones I’ve ever used so this one pales in comparison.
- Almay’s exclusive anti-breakage formula could potentially give you stronger lashes
- Great for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
- Provide more volume and thickness for your short lashes
- Has a waterproof version
- The length it provides is average
This Almay Get Up and Grow mascara is not one I can confidently recommend, though those with sensitive eyes may appreciate Almay’s hypoallergenic multi-benefit mascara. For the ultimate lash look and lift mascara, I’d recommend L’oreal Telescopic mascara. Check out that review here!
