The other day I was at a coffee shop and this beautiful woman strode into the room with elegance and confidence. I was captivated. She looked so chic. So put together. After creepily admiring her for a moment, I then started studying her and I broke down her look in my head because I wanted to figure out what exactly made her look so elegant to share it all with you! Here are the 7 things she did that made her look elegant!
Foolproof Ways on How to Look Elegant
1. Pulled back hair
Her hair was in a low bun/chignon and for those that are unaware, the word "chignon" originates from the French. Can't say I'm surprised! This hairstyle is classic and feminine. If you didn't get so gifted in the hairstyling talent department like me, try slicking your hair back. It's easier and gives the same elegant effect by highlighting your face and bone structure.

2. Structured & long camel coat
She wore a stunning camel coat about knee length that looked very expensive. I'm guessing that it was, but it looked expensive because it was very structured and the fabric looked smooth. Quality first because people can definitely tell!

3. Good posture
Earlier I said that she carried herself with confidence and I know good posture is behind that. You can't slump into a room confidently. Slump and confidence don't exist together! Shoulders back. Chin up. You got this, girl.

4. Groom
Her hair was pulled back and I could tell she cared about the way she looked. I got a good look at her nails and they were natural and groomed. I know, you're thinking I'm pretty creepy, right? Don't act like you don't look at these things too! It's truly all the little things that go into the whole package. Polished nails, ironed clothes, lint & wrinkle-free, etc.
5. Pearl earrings
I don't know many things that are classier than pearl earrings, especially when paired with an elegant coat. If Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are wearing these, a.k.a ROYALTY, then I think we should be too! 😉
6. Don't go overboard with the accessories
There's a time and place for statement jewelry, but if you are going for elegance, err on the side of minimalism! This might mean a simple gold necklace, pearl earrings, a bangle, black sunglasses, or a mix. But certainly not all at once!
7. Add the finishing touches to your lips
Okay, so I didn't get a good look at her lips (I'm not that creepy), but this is one that I'm adding because though it's small, it adds to the overall package! Before heading out the door, add something to your lips to pull it all together. It doesn't have to be a bold red lip either. A simple swipe of gloss adds the right amount of shine. Matte lipstick works well too!

I love the double pearl earrings. Where can I buy them?
The earrings are not mine, but I think I found them here! Hope that helps!
I love pearls but every time I put them on I feel like an old lady’s since the time I was twenty and now at 57 l love them but to me there ageing
I think if you love them, wear them. Personally, I don't think pearls will ever go out of style!
Pearls are never aging. I gave all three of my daughters pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet for their high school graduations. They’re in their late 30’s and still wear them. It’s an elegant, never out of style look.
So so true!
I’ve always worn pearls. Since I was a teen. I love them!
They're always classic and timeless!
I live in the tropics. Our climate is humid and the temperature is in the 80-90s all year round during daytime. Could you adapt your recommendations to be chic and comfortable for this environment? Thanks for your response.
Hey there! Thanks for your comment. 🙂 I think all of these tips would still work for your climate, besides #2. Instead of a long camel coat, you could try a lightweight linen blazer or a long sleeveless vest to still give the look of something long and polished, without the heavy fabric! Hope that helps!
I don’t think you have to wear something long to look elegant. As long as your hair and clothes are neat and non-busy. Classic styles vs the latest fads will work. As she stated, easy on accessories. Hope that helps.
That's true, Lisa. 🙂 Thanks for your great input!
Thank you for the great tips
