Summer fashion usually brings lots of bold color, fruit prints, and interesting cut out tops galore, but these may not fit with your personal style. Thankfully, there are still plenty of options for those that prefer a more minimalist style. This post has all the major outfit inspo for those that love minimalist summer outfits and want to keep it simple (yet stylish) this season!
10+ Minimalistic Summer Outfits
1. linen jumpsuit + sandals + wicker bag
I’m obsessed with linen. Yes, it’s super prone to wrinkles, but that just adds to the charm! Linen is a summer staple fabric and Linen is a great breathable fabric for warm weather and a jumpsuit like this will give you plenty of mixing and matching options. That’s what minimal style dreams are made out of! You can also go for a linen dress if you prefer.
2. denim top + white culottes + espadrilles
A denim or chambray top is always a good idea for summer. Though a bright color, this top still acts as a neutral and looks extra fresh when paired with white!
3. mom shorts + bodysuit + espadrilles
It’s not even officially summer yet and I’ve worn my bodysuit more times than I can count. It’s the perfect staple piece that can be worn in different ways, yet not so bold that people start to notice that you keep wearing the same thing! This piece is a great alternative to the plain white tee, as you can get that sleek, tucked-in minimalist style with ease.
4. silk scarf as a top + linen pants + straw hat
Okay, a large hat such as this one may not scream “simple” or “minimalist wardrobe”, but this three-piece look is incredibly easy to pull off and super chic to boot. This outfit hits all the right beats, unique with the scarf as the top, easy with some slides, and still comfy with some roomy linen pants.
5. denim shorts + linen button down + sandals
This is already the second time in this post I’ve worn these shorts and they look different each time! A pair of vintage shorts such as these are a great way to give your look a beachy and summery vibe, especially when paired with a relaxed fit white button down and strappy sandals.
6. culottes + bodysuit + espadrilles
Flared jeans have been coming back and the best part is that they’re perfect for a summer casual look. These cropped and roomy bottoms are a great more modest alternative to shorts, and I find them to be more appropriate for the summer heat than skinny jeans. Plus, let’s not forget how fun and fresh white is this time of year!
7. bodysuit + linen pants + straw bag + sandals
Have I convinced you yet that your wardrobe needs some linen this summer? These pants are relaxed and easy, yet basic enough to be mixed and matched when in neutral colors. And, of course, the bodysuit makes a reappearance for this look as well!
8. slip dress + linen blazer + basket bag + slides
I believe leopard print acts as a neutral, so that’s why I’m throwing it in this minimalistic summer outfit post! This slip dress gets toned down with a linen blazer and the charming basket bag gives you that chic summer vibe.
9. black tee + white culottes + basket bag + slides
You can still wear black in summer! Just pair it with some lighter colors (like white) to balance it out. And don’t forget the gold jewelry, which makes the perfect companion to black!
10. mom shorts + striped button down + straw hat + slides
Button downs are not too stuffy for summer, as long as they are a relaxed fit and made from a comfortable natural fabric like linen or cotton. Consider getting one that’s a little oversized…think of all the cool knotting you could do!
11. knit tank + linen pants + net bag + slides
I used to think net bags were a little weird. But when I found one for 99 cents at a thrift store, I figured that I had nothing to lose! I think it adds some great texture and interest to a look. These are really inexpensive too, so consider getting one to up your neutral look!
12. linen jumpsuit + scarf + straw hat
Though we’re using the same jumpsuit from look #1 and the scarf as a top technique from #4, this look is still fresh and different. Mixing and matching is always the key to getting the most out of your wardrobe, so don’t be afraid to get creative with your styling!
13. mom shorts + knit sweater + slides + hat
An easy and light knit like this is really popular this time of year. You can take it from the city to the beach. This open fabric especially makes this the best way to add a little warmth for those breezy summer nights!
