Each season has its own separate set of staples (try saying that 5 times fast) and personally, I love the staples that spring brings!
When stocking your wardrobe for spring, the trends are definitely fun to shop for, but you want to make sure you have those pieces that can be mixed and matched and worn in different ways. Wondering what those are? Here are the 9 spring staples you need this season!
9 Spring Staples You Need This Season
1. white sneakers
Such a huge win when you don’t have to wear clunky fur lined boots all the time, right? White sneakers are not only comfy and versatile but are also great at dressing down those fancier looks too. This gives you more options to wear your fancier clothes for day time!

2. floral dress
Nothing rings in spring better than some oh so pretty florals. A floral dress is a huge staple because it can be worn with strappy heels for a night out, sneakers for errands on the weekend, or slides for brunch with friends.

3. light jacket (anorak, denim, moto, trench, cardigan)
Spring weather is still hot and cold (way better than all cold though), so switch out those puffy jackets and faux fur coats for a light jacket. Great options are a denim jacket, anorak/utility, moto, trench, and cardigan. I’d go as far as to say that you should get all of them! They each have their separate uses. 4&5. espadrilles & high waisted straight cropped jeans
I’m combining two super cute items here!
It may not be shorts weather yet, but a pair of cropped denim is just as good. You can get away with showing some ankle and it’s nice to take a break from the skinny jeans every once in a while!
In my opinion, espadrilles are one of the most perfect spring and summer shoes! The braided detail is beachy and laid back while the added height (though still walkable) adds that little extra oomph to your looks!

6. lightweight sweater
This cozy, yet breathable knit pairs well with a cute pair of denim or layering over an easy floral dress. Both of those other things are staples so you can get a couple of complete outfits out of this sweater!

7. straw bag
There’s a reason I’m wearing a straw bag in almost every one of these pics! This is a neutral bag that goes with anything and adds the right amount of texture to make any outfit look more interesting. If you only got one bag this season, this should be it!
8. kimono
I’ve talked about how great kimonos are tons of time because they just make adding style to your outfit so easy! Related: 4 Cute and Chic Ways to Wear a Kimono

9. Gingham
Gingham print makes you think of picnics and sunshine! It’s a happy print with a vintage feel and adds a playful touch to any outfit.

I know some people out there are experiencing legit spring temps and seeing magnolias bloom, which I’m jealous of! We’ve just been having 20-30’s temps, but that’s enough to make me smile!
So excited for all that spring has to bring! Share this to Pinterest if you’re just as excited as me 🙂
