Although I don’t tend to invest too much of my closet space or clothing budget in trends, I’ll admit that they can be fun to follow if you’re looking to mix things up a bit. I’ve found the key is to pick and choose which ones you want to add to your wardrobe – if you try too many at once, you can run the risk of losing your personal style. But if one or two catches your eye when the new season rolls around, don’t be afraid to give them a try! Trends might introduce a new wardrobe staple that complements what you already own and love to wear. And if you’re wondering what trends are on the horizon for fall, I’ve done the hard work for you and rounded up 9 fall trends 2025 that made their way down the runways in the latest designer shows.
1. Asymmetry
Asymmetrical looks are on the horizon for 2025. Although this isn’t necessarily a new trend, one-shoulder or off-centered details were everywhere on the fall runways this past spring. From jackets to coats, tops, and dresses, one-shoulder moments and interesting structural details were featured in a wide range of designs.
Color, shape, and texture often reign supreme as the easiest ways to add interest to your outfit. Asymmetrical details certainly fall within the category of shape! If you’re styling neutral pieces together or pieces with similar fabrics, you can add interest to your look by incorporating asymmetrical details to make your outfit stand out.
Don’t feel like you have to wait until fall to try out this trend, either! There are plenty of tanks and dresses in this summer’s collections that would be the perfect opportunity to get a head start on fall trends 2025.

2. Lots of Volume
Also up on the list for trending fall trends 2025? Lots of volume! Volume is another great way to add a bit of drama and interest to your go-to outfits. Playing with proportions can be a perfect strategy when you feel like you’re in a style rut, and according to the fall 2025 runway shows, designers are predicting big things for big volume in the upcoming year.
From Chanel to Louis Vuitton, oversized coats, skirts, and dresses made their way down the catwalk. Try out the trend yourself by adding a single oversized piece to your outfit – too many might end up overwhelming you. Besides adding interest to your outfit, one oversized element can also help to balance out your body proportions. If you have an inverted triangle shape, for instance, an oversized or voluminous skirt can help to balance out your natural body shape for a flattering look.

3. Put a Bow On It
Classy, feminine looks have been all the rage this year, and if you’ve loved the elegant, elevated looks, you’ll love the little detail that was all over the designer runways for the upcoming season. Bows are back in a big way, and they’re the perfect feminine touch to all of your favorite pieces.
From small bows to large sashes at the waist, you can tailor this trend to fit your personal style. Breezy blouses and tanks with bow clasps in the front have already been trending this spring and summer, and you can transition that look to cooler weather with long-sleeved shirts and cardigans with the same detail. If you have a flair for dramatic pieces, go for a midi or maxi dress with a larger bow sash around the waist for a fun look that also highlights your natural curves.

4. Fresh Florals
Florals for spring might not be groundbreaking, but have you considered wearing them past summer and into the colder seasons? This season’s runways provided the perfect inspiration on how to transition your fresh floral patterns into cooler temperatures.
When it comes to florals this fall, try leaning into patterns with a more muted, moodier color palette. Or, on the flipside, go for an unexpected look with bold, brighter neon shades – another trend that made its way onto the fall 2025 runways.
If you want to transition your traditional florals into autumn, try pairing them with other fall staples like leather boots, cozy knits, suede jackets, or dark-wash denim.

5. Pretty Pearls
Although this upcoming fall trend certainly isn’t new, it’s one that I was personally really excited to see back on the runways! Designers like Chanel and Vacquera went all in on pearls to accent their classic pieces. Even though you might not be reaching for the size of pearls that premiered on the models, you can have fun incorporating pearl details into your clothing pieces in a more subtle fashion (in addition to your classic jewelry).
Pearl buttons are a great way to try out the pearl trend this season. You could also try pearl headbands, shoes, or belts if you want to get creative. And of course, pearl jewelry will always be in style if you’re going for an elegant, polished appearance!

6. Lots of Lace
Lace details might be the pretty, feminine touch that your fall outfits are missing. From all-lace dresses to lace-trimmed silk slips, lace was well-utilized by this season’s big designers. You can incorporate lace into your fall outfits by choosing lace pieces with a traditional fall color scheme. Or, you can transition your lace pieces to fall by pairing them with fall-weather staples like loafers, tights, sheer socks, and leather jackets.

7. Posh Pieces
It turns out it’s not just me who’s daydreaming about posh English looks! Traditional English staples made their way down the fall runways this season, including tweed, leather, plaid, Hunter green, and classic trenches. Think practical, yet posh pieces that are as beautiful as they are functional.
Warm, earthy tones will help you to embrace the posh English trend this fall. Think olive green, rustic brown, cream, burgundy, deep red, and dark purple. As for patterns, try tweed, plaid, houndstooth, check, and gingham. If you love cozy sweaters, warm coats, and lots of layers, this trend will be for you.

8. A New Take on Trenches
We’re a big fan of the classic trench coat at MCO, and it turns out that our favorite transitional weather staple is making waves this year with a twist. Trenches were shown on the runways with bold new silhouettes, lots of layers, and dramatic architectural details. This is an easy trend to incorporate into your style this year because trenches aren’t going anywhere! It’s a great staple if you’ve ever loved French style, and this year you can experiment with new shapes to mix things up.

9. Ruffle Details
We already know that vintage details are having a moment, but ruffle details are another key design feature to keep your eye on through the fall. Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Christian Dior all had fun playing with these architectural details incorporated into their blouses, jackets, and more for this fall. Ruffled collars seemed to be especially popular among the big-name designers!
Ruffles are a great way to add interest to your capsule wardrobe pieces. If you want to add a feminine touch to your go-to button-down shirt for the office or polished weekend looks, try swapping out your classic version for one with ruffles. You can do the same thing with a shirtdress, blouse, or skirt!

Fun with Fall Trends 2025
Although we’re all about a staple, classic capsule wardrobe here at MCO, we also like to incorporate a trending piece now and again! Not only can a trending piece give your outfit a fresh, modern look for the new season, but trends in moderation are an easy way to get excited again about the pieces you already own. If you’re in a style rut and feeling a little bored with the clothes you wear, try mixing things up with a new, trendy piece. You might just fall in love with a style for life!
