And we’re baaacck with a week of real-life classic outfits! (Said in my best gameshow voice.) This past week brought travel, lunch dates, and coffee runs, so I styled my outfits to reflect that. Also, that sounds like my life is way more exciting than it is. Has anyone else had all of their fun stuff get jammed into the same time? Without further ado, let’s dive into some outfit ideas – some easy to recreate and some a little more “wow” – to inspire your summer wardrobe.
1. striped button up + linen pants + sandals
These linen pants from J.Crew are a favorite. (In fact, you’ll see in this post that I wore them twice.) Thanks to the breezy fabric, loose fit, and elastic waist, they are very comfortable. Yes, they wrinkle, but that’s linen. I know some people can’t handle that, and that’s totally understandable, but if you can look past a few wrinkles (or sometimes a lot), then I think you’ll love these as much as I do.
For a casual chic summer outfit, I paired them with a striped button-down and sandals. You could grab a boat tote and look cute on the boardwalk, or you could grab a straw bag and look cute while you do some shopping. Possibilities!
2. white skirt + striped shirt + cap-toe flats
For a lunch date at a new French Italian restaurant, I had to break out my classy European-inspired outfit, of course. My motto? You can never have too many striped shirts. And though that may go against my other motto (quality over quantity)… let me have this one. It’ll be our little secret.
White midi or maxi skirts are the epitome of classy style. Make it elegant, classy, French, feminine, whatever you want! If you don’t have a white skirt now, what are you waiting for? A few highly-rated options are this Madewell one, this Everlane one, this Banana Republic Factory one, and the DOEN one I’m wearing in my photo (if you like a little extra details).
3. linen pants + striped shirt + linen blazer + woven flats
There are those linen pants again!
This was my travel outfit for a recent trip to Montreal. I’m of the opinion that you should still try to look nice when traveling, and thankfully, looking nice doesn’t have to mean being uncomfortable. With cotton and linen fabrics, as well as pull-on pants, the outfit options of comfy + stylish are endless.
My favorite style hack is to throw on a linen or relaxed-fit blazer for extra polish and warmth when you need it. And did you know you don’t have to take your shoes off in the airport anymore? So many more options of what you can wear now!
4. shirt dress + woven flats + straw hat + straw bag
In Montreal, we went to a beautiful open air market, and I opted for a black midi shirt dress. With my straw basket bag, black hat, and oversized black sunglasses, I felt like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn!

5. striped shift dress + flats + straw bag
I love a shift dress for a casual “throw on and go” look. It’s roomy and looks chic, but is not so polished that you can’t style it for different occasions. This dress would look just as good on the streets of Montreal as it does on the beach, and even dressed up for work!
6. white maxi dress + gold sandals + straw bag
I know a dress like this isn’t for everyone, but I went to Montreal during a heatwave, and I was thankful I packed this dress. Not only does it have a beautiful embroidered detail that looks like Sezane, but you can’t get much breezier than this! It is on the sheer side, however.
But no matter the brand or style of your dress, a white maxi dress is a great thing to have in your wardrobe for the summer. Whether you need it for vacations, shopping, or even classier events like a tea party, it will always be there for you.
7. black dress + sandals + straw bag
This is another breezy dress I wore for the heatwave in Montreal. This one has a cut-out detail on the back that helped keep me cool. I don’t shy away from wearing black in the summer, but I do like to lighten it up with straw accents, gold jewelry, and sometimes a pop of red lipstick!
A Week of Summer Outfits
No matter what’s on your summer calendar, you can never go wrong with linen pants, woven flats, and a go-with-everything straw bag. These items are perfect for rewearing and getting the most out of your summer capsule wardrobe!

Wow! I’m so glad you came to Montreal. I was born there and lived in that city until 2017. I hope you enjoyed your stay. My city used to be more driver friendly but well! I love the nice pictures you showed us. And of course, I love your outfits.
Oh wow, that’s cool! Well, we didn’t do any driving so that didn’t bother us. Old Montreal is so beautiful!
