With a new season comes new styles and trends. While one of my favorite things is browsing my go-to retailers to see what’s new, I often find I already have many of those pieces in my closet. If you don’t – and you’re looking for ways to refresh your spring style – here are the pieces I’ve been reaching for again and again (and you just might, too).
1. Ballet Flats
A few weeks ago, I shared a post on spring color combinations – and let’s just say, sometimes I write certain posts as much for myself as for anyone else! Inspired by shades of light blue and soft pink, I decided to try out a few spring color combos for myself.
I love how feminine and fresh light pink feels – especially in a pair of ballet flats. It may not be sandal season where I am just yet, but slipping into ballet flats makes every outfit feel a little more springy and French-inspired. From skirts to jeans and even denim shorts, I wear ballet flats with everything!
2. White Button Up
It’s true – a white button-up is a year-round staple, but I’ve been reaching for it more and more lately. Its versatility is unmatched, and thanks to its light color, it instantly makes outfits feel fresh again. Plus, it brightens up black, which is great because, if you’re like me, you want to wear black whether it’s 8 or 80 degrees out!

3. Trench Coat
I love sunshine and hot weather, but I don’t mind the in-between seasons either – because that’s when I get to wear my trench coat! Just like the other staples featured here, I find countless ways to style mine – from skirts to jeans to shorts – there’s truly no end.

4. White Skirt
When the birds are chirping and the sun is shining, I instantly feel like throwing on a white skirt. It’s the epitome of spring and summer weather, and it means we’ve finally survived the harsh winter! Plus, it’s so versatile that it’s easy to find something to pair it with. Stripes are my go-to, but I have to push myself to try something new and rotate through my closet. I love this tank top and blazer combo!
5. White Shorts
You might sense a theme here – I’m all about versatility. That’s why these are the eight pieces I keep reaching for! On hot days, I’ll ditch the trench coat and jeans and slip into shorts instead. These white shorts lean more casual, so I like pairing them with more polished pieces (like loafers) for a casual-chic look. However, you can also fully lean into the relaxed vibe, as they pair just as well with clogs, sandals, and sneakers!
6. Boat Tote
You’ve seen me wear this plenty, but it’s the bag of the season. And what I mean by that is it’s not this year’s trend – it’s a go-to every warm-weather season. I don’t mind trends (and I do dabble in them myself), but I prefer investing in pieces that have longevity in my wardrobe. So while I may pass on micro-trends, I’ll choose styles that last – even if they are seasonal.
I love the boat tote not just because it’s timeless (Princess Diana was photographed with a similar style), but it’s practical too. From farmers’ markets to beach days to weekend errands, this bag has got you covered.
7. Clogs
Love ’em or hate ’em, clogs are practical and something I’ve been reaching for a lot! They’re perfect for slipping on to bring kids to school, plus, they’re comfortable too. They give each outfit a laid-back vibe – which is perfect for weekends and casual looks.
8. Straw Tote
When I break out the straw tote, that’s when I know warm weather is here. And no, it’s not just for the beach either! I treat my straw tote as a normal bag – from farmers’ markets, park days, and even the library. It instantly gives your outfit a warm weather feel, and the texture brings interest to your outfit as well. There are many sizes out there, so find the one (or several) that suits your lifestyle!
