Spring and fall are the best times to wear this piece, and it feels especially good to ditch heavier outerwear in favor of something lighter. Coordinating boat shoes and a tote bag adds a polished, put-together feel. And of course, complete the outfit with a trench coat!

I love this outfit combo for a busy day out and about. Starting with these comfy black pants – I’ve mentioned them often in my personal outfit posts! They give the illusion of tailored work pants, but they’re unbelievably soft and comfortable. A striped top adds interest, especially when paired with another print, like leopard print sneakers. A longchamp tote bag and Ralph Lauren baseball cap add a stylish, preppy touch, and the trench coat is the finishing touch!

Usually, I gravitate toward slim or straight jeans, but every now and then, I like to switch things up – like with these baggy jeans. Here’s proof that your trench coat outfit can be dressy and anything but basic. For a birthday dinner, I paired this statement piece with a white button-up, a black tulle skirt, and slingback heels.
