Even as a self-proclaimed (and not ashamed) neutral lover, I’ll admit this spring season has me craving a little bit of color! There’s just something about the warmer temps, sunshine, and signs of new growth that makes you want to try something new in your wardrobe, too. Though I’m a big believer in not basing your wardrobe around trends, it’s actually quite easy to dress in the color trends for spring – they never really change! Each spring season, we crave lighter colors and pastels, and that’s reflected in the trend reports. Pink, yellow, blue… those are just some of the colors that are always “in.” Perhaps they get rebranded or appear in a different shade, but they’re the same colors nonetheless. And likely, you already have some. For ideas on how to embrace spring colors in your outfits this season, read on!
1. Light Blue + Butter Yellow

A light blue button-up like this is so versatile. In the summer, it pairs great with linen shorts, and in the fall, it can be layered under sweaters. And for the spring? It’s soft and subtle enough to be paired with lots of spring shades – starting with butter yellow! This light yellow is a great way to inject color and personality into your outfit without overwhelming it. Pair it with white jeans for a neutral base to ground the look and add that fresh spring touch.
2. Yellow + Tan

There are definitely instances where you can pair spring shades together in one outfit (which we’ll get to), but if you prefer to start small, try pairing your spring colors with a neutral – like tan! It’s a great in-between of white and black, helping your outfit feel fresh while still approachable. Pair a yellow top (like a classic button-up) with jeans for a simple yet put-together look.
3. Olive Green + White

If your season is “autumn” and pastel colors aren’t as flattering on you, here’s a way to incorporate one of your autumn shades into the spring season: pair it with white! While we may think of olive green as a fall color, it can also be a great winter-to-spring transition shade. To add more of a spring look, adding a touch of light pink is a lovely way to soften and sweeten the outfit even more.
4. Red + Navy

I can’t do an outfit post without including at least one Parisian-inspired look! Usually, the spring season means swapping out your dark winter denim for lighter washes. However, you can also treat your dark blue jeans as a color (even though they technically are – you know what I mean!). With the right mix of spring styles and accessories, this classic outfit can read as spring-ready with a chic, French-inspired feel.

5. Lavender + White

Though I don’t personally wear lavender much, I love how it reminds me of lilacs in the spring. Isn’t that scent intoxicating? Channel the feeling of blooming lilacs with this outfit! A lavender-colored sweater pairs beautifully with white (such a great neutral for spring), creating an overall fresh look. Bring out the cool tones of the sweater with silver accessories.
6. Light Blue + Light Pink

It’s giving cotton candy – in the best way. This sweet-as-ice-cream look would be perfect for your spring events, such as a garden party or tea party. Though each color on its own would look great paired with white, together they create the perfectly sweet spring look everyone craves when the snow melts away!
7. Butter Yellow + Blue

Whether you’re watching your kid play sports on the weekend, going to the farmers market, or having a park playdate, you can’t go wrong with this casually cute outfit idea for a spring day! Thoughtful touches of color make it feel fresh without being overdone. If you’re just getting started with color, draping a colorful sweater over your shoulders is a great way to ease in. It’s stylish and practical without being overwhelming.
8. Light Pink + White

This outfit proves that spring sweetness can have a little bit of edge, too. If spring outfits that remind you of sweet treats aren’t your thing, give this outfit idea a try instead. Build your outfit base with white (the spring neutral), then layer a pink sweater on top. It’s the perfect pop of color! Complete your outfit with leopard print flats for a splash of style.
9. Black + White + Light Pink

While this outfit may focus more on a print than a color combo, I wanted to include it to show you that if you love neutrals, like me, you don’t have to abandon your well-loved black and white! By adopting more of a white base instead of black, you can still look appropriate for the season in your favorite color combo. Additionally, by adding a simple color – like light pink – you can embrace sweet spring colors while still staying true to yourself. Plus, polka dots!

That’s always the goal! 🙂
I love the colors of Spring. I’ve bought a lot of light blue to go with my white and cream. I have a little pink and yellow, and some different greens that I’m loving. We’re already in our linen pants and tees. Not many sweaters in Houston.
Oo that sounds pretty!
