Being near Chicago is one of my favorite things about where we live. We get to sleep and live in a nice, quiet city, but when we want to explore a new place and have some fun, Chicago is just a short (ish) drive away. It’s a place we like to visit as a family, but let me tell you, going without kids is even better. (Who knew ??) You get to splurge on the nice hotels, eat at the romantic restaurants, and walk leisurely through an art museum without worrying if your kid is the one that’s screaming the loudest. (Wait a second, is that sound coming from our family?)

I’ve got a thing for finding all the pretty street cafes.
(below) The most expensive but also one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The food was great, but the atmosphere was even better. We went before it got too busy and stayed for one and a half hours. Our waiter was super chill and we had all the courses, from cocktails to dessert. We people watched in one of the ritzy areas on the Gold Coast, sitting on the bistro set under a cozy heater. Just amazing!
Even though it’s back to the day-to-day family life and I don’t know when we’ll travel next, we’ve still got things to look forward to!
