“Timeless trends” might be an oxymoron, but we’re using it with good reason! After all, can’t two things be true at the same time? When it comes to the trends we’re most looking forward to in 2026, many happen to be this “both/and” situation. Well-known classics are making a return in 2026 style, and have appeared time and time again on the runway shows from this year. But, we’d argue that many of the trend predictions for the coming year also feature classic staples that have never really gone out of style. As they make their way back to the forefront of fashion news, these are the trends we have our eye on in 2026!

1. Leather Gloves

Leather gloves have entered the chat in the world of trends in 2025, and they’ll continue making appearances in 2026! This trend has true staying power and has never really gone out of style. Leather gloves have the ability to elevate any outfit and give off an effortlessly elegant vibe to complement your sophisticated look. And as you take a look at the rest of the trend predictions on the list, it makes complete sense why leather gloves will be at the forefront of fashion once more in the coming year as designers lean into opulent, luxe details.

Elbow-length or opera-style gloves in particular are forecasted to be especially popular in 2026, but if you want to go for a pair that’s a little more understated, shorter variations can give you a similar effect. If you prefer a shorter version, Quince has a pair of cashmere-lined leather gloves that you can shop here (and they’re also under $50).

2. Faux Fur

Faux fur is another trend we’ve already been seeing a lot of on the tail end of 2025, but it’s one that will be making its way into 2026 style as well. As fashion lovers are looking for affordable ways to make their outfits look more expensive, faux fur details are the perfect solution. Fur stoles and scarves in particular are the ideal way to make a statement if you don’t want to go all in on a fur coat.

The great thing about faux fur is the accessible price point. You can easily find pieces (even coats) for under $150 if you know where to look. Even T.J. Maxx has been offering a good selection of faux fur pieces for under $100 that give you the luxe look you’re looking for, for less.

3. Brooches

While other timeless, vintage-style pieces like leather gloves and fur stoles make their way back to the forefront of fashion news in 2026, they’re also joined by another piece from the past: brooches. At MCO, we believe brooches have never really gone out of style, but the spring 2026 runway shows proved that these little accessories will be making big waves again in the new year.

Brooch styling will take on new life in the coming months as brooches are styled on socks, skirts, ties, scarves, etc. There’s no limit to the number of ways that you can wear this type of jewelry, and you’ll probably start seeing a lot more layered looks with them as well, as Julia Roberts exhibits above.

4. Lace Details

Continuing on with the vintage theme of this year’s trends, prepare to see a lot of lace! And not just lace tops and skirts – this elegant pattern will also be making an appearance in the smaller details, like collars, tights, etc. Tactile textures were everywhere in the spring 2026 runway shows (Chanel, Balenciaga, Khaite, and more), and lace slots nicely into that theme. It’s fashion that you can feel as much as you can see!

If your outfit is lacking texture, add a bit of feminine lace to contrast any of your more traditionally masculine pieces. Lace and leather are the perfect example of such a pairing! And if you want to make a black and white look stand out, forego a pop of color and try adding a textured pair of lace floral tights instead.

5. Natural Fibers

“Frugal chic” is the buzz phrase that you’ll be hearing a lot more of in 2026, if it hasn’t already made its way onto your feed. After years of fast-paced trend cycles, there will be many who decide “enough is enough” and decide to step back to really analyze the pieces they already own, and how they can slowly elevate their style with higher-quality pieces that last. After all, if you don’t buy nice, be prepared to buy it twice!

Natural fibers have been becoming more and more important to fashion consumers as they’ve started paying closer attention to the fabric contents of their clothes. Now, synthetic fabrics aren’t necessarily bad, but there’s a time and a place for them. If you’re looking for fabrics that will really stand the test of time, even though they may require a little special care, try paying a bit more attention to that little tag on your pieces. For example, 100% cotton, cashmere, wool, linen, etc., are worth the higher price tag for how they feel, look, and last.

6. Heritage Style

I’ve been loving the “equestrian chic”, British countryside style that’s been everywhere this fall and winter. And the good news is, this is a classic look that will remain more than relevant going into 2026. Think preppy, polished pieces that give you an old-world look, but can still feel fresh with the right styling.

If you’re leaning into this aesthetic in 2026, get inspiration from brands like Hermès, Ralph Lauren, and Burberry. Reach for patterns like plaid, argyle, Rugby stripes, and houndstooth. And as for colors, go for natural, neutral tones like chocolate brown, burgundy, British green, tan, navy, etc. There are so many ways that you can recreate this style and make it your own!

7. Shades of Gray

Chocolate brown and burgundy may have been the “it colors” of 2026, but shades of gray will enter the chat in 2026! And don’t just limit it to one specific shade, either – gray-on-gray outfits will take the form of a tonal look, or be created with varying tones for an all-gray look that still feels layered and dimensional.

Just like other rich, neutral colors, gray feels luxe but in a more understated way. It’s also easy to pair with other accent pieces in shades of burgundy, brown, black, red, navy, etc. Depending on your color season, it’s also possible to find gray pieces in either warm or cool undertones to fit your personal style.

8. Leather

Bottega Veneta and Jil Sander premiered a variety of leather pieces in their spring 2026 runway shows, and this timeless look is taking new shape in the new year in the form of dresses, billowy skirts, trench coats, etc. Leather certainly isn’t a new discovery, but you’ll probably start seeing a lot more of it in 2026 style!

If you love a polished, slightly edgy look, you’ll definitely want to try out new forms of leather as the new year takes shape. There are so many cool, unique pieces in leather to reach for, and plenty of faux versions out there as well, for a more affordable price tag. Leather’s also the perfect fabric to reach for you if you want to contrast your daintier pieces in lace, florals, etc.

9. Animal Print

We’re always big fans of leopard print here at MCO and think it’s a timeless pattern that will never go out of style, but designers like Chanel proved it in the spring 2026 runway shows. Leopard, tiger, and cow print made appearances in the form of coats, dresses, shoes, etc., and designers made it clear that these patterns are here to stay.

If you want to go all in with a statement-making piece, try an animal print coat this winter. Your outerwear serves as your first impression in the colder months, so it truly will make your outfit! If you like to stick to simpler basics in the colder months, an animal print coat can do the talking for the rest of your pieces.

10. Top-Handle Bags

While oversized totes and East West bags may have dominated the handbag trends in 2025, you’ll be seeing a more diminutive style in 2026. Think vintage-style top-handle bags that take on a smaller form, perfect for your everyday essentials.

Top-handle bags perfectly complement the other elegant pieces on this list that are set to trend in 2026. And if you want to add a structured, polished piece to your collection, consider a top-handle version to instantly look more put-together.

These 10 Trends Have Staying Power

While we usually caution against leaning too much into trends, the great thing about these 10 styles is that they have true staying power in fashion. They’re not new pieces, but ones that are just rising once again to the forefront of fashion in 2026. If you find yourself gravitating to one (or more) and want to add a new piece to your wardrobe, you don’t have to worry about it going out of true style in the coming years – even if it’s not trendy, any of these pieces can still give you the classic look you’re going for in the seasons yet to come.
